I'm planning a trip through the Tunisian Sahara, specifically around Tataouine to Douz, and I'm curious about the feasibility of reaching Ksar Ghilanes from Tataouine with a smaller 2-wheel drive car. I've heard that from Douz, only 4-wheel drives or camels can make it, but Tataouine is marked on the map as having a 'tracked-in track'. It seems like it could be a 50/50 chance. Has anyone here tried this particular route themselves? Is it worth attempting, or should I stick to the surefire methods? Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
