This was our 8th trip to Italy, but the first time we have encountered this attempted scam. Someone approached us asking if we could make change for a bill or coin, which seemed harmless at first, but it quickly became clear it was a setup for a scam. Has anyone else experienced this in Italy or elsewhere? How did you handle it, and what precautions would you recommend for others to avoid falling victim to such scams?
