We’re heading to Bulgaria from June 10-16, 2025, as part of a longer trip through Europe. This will be our third country, following our time in Romania, and I'm excited to see what Bulgaria has to offer! I’m particularly interested in must-visit spots, local cuisine, and any cultural experiences we shouldn’t miss. Also, would love to know about transportation options and any hidden gems that aren't in the usual tourist guides. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Bulgaria is a fantastic choice! For must-visit spots, don't miss the beautiful town of Plovdiv, with its incredible Roman theater and charming old town. Sofia is also rich in history, with tons of cultural sites. For local cuisine, definitely try banitsa (a pastry filled with cheese) and shopska salad. As for transport, the train system is reliable for getting around, but renting a car could be a great way to explore the countryside at your own pace. Have you thought about visiting the Rila Monastery? It's a UNESCO site and absolutely stunning! Any specific activities you're hoping to do while you're there?
