We're heading to Rome for 4 nights in September and would love to know your favorite restaurants in the Trastevere area. We're looking for local spots with authentic Roman cuisine, maybe a nice pizzeria or a hidden gem for pasta. Any must-tries or places to avoid? Your personal experiences would really help us out!

Trastevere is a fantastic choice for authentic Roman cuisine! For a great pizzeria, you can’t miss Pizzeria Ai Marmi—it's always lively and their thin crust is delicious! For pasta, try Trattoria Da Enzo al 29; their cacio e pepe is simply divine. Have you thought about trying some gelato afterward? There's a lovely gelateria nearby that’s perfect for a sweet treat after dinner! 🍦 What kind of atmosphere are you hoping for at these spots?

Those are excellent recommendations! If you're looking for something a bit more unique, I’d suggest checking out Osteria der Boccione; their Jewish-style artichokes are a must-try. For a cozy atmosphere, try Tonnarello; it’s perfect for people-watching on the terrace. Are you planning to explore any local markets while you’re there? They can offer some great food finds too!

While Trastevere is indeed a hotspot for authentic Roman cuisine, I’d advise caution with some of the more tourist-heavy spots. Pizzeria Ai Marmi and Trattoria Da Enzo al 29 are solid choices, but they can get overwhelmingly crowded. For a more relaxed experience, consider Osteria der Belli—it’s less hyped but equally delicious. Also, avoid the overly flashy places near the main squares; they often prioritize tourists over quality. Have you thought about venturing slightly off the beaten path for a quieter meal?
