Question Ghent or Bruges for 3 Nights?

We're planning a trip that includes a stop in Brussels for 2 nights on our way to Amsterdam, and then we're thinking of spending 3 nights either in Ghent, Bruges, or possibly both. I'm torn between the two. Ghent seems vibrant with its medieval architecture and lively atmosphere, while Bruges is often described as a fairy-tale town with its canals and cobblestone streets. For those who've been, which city would you recommend for a 3-night stay, or is it feasible to split our time between both without feeling rushed? Any insights on what each city offers would be incredibly helpful.
