Review Just Back from an 8-20 June 2024 Trip - Thoughts and Tips

I’ve just returned from an incredible trip that we’ve been planning for the last year. Before leaving, I spent a lot of time on this forum gathering information, which was incredibly helpful. Now, I want to share my experiences and tips to help others planning similar trips. Our group consisted of 30 people, aged 13 to 85, and we had a fantastic Tour Director, Calden Smith, who made everything seamless. The food was plentiful but repetitive, and the service at the Four Seasons wasn’t up to par, though the location and rooms were stunning. Here are some recommendations and thoughts based on our experience: Arrive a couple of days early to account for potential flight delays, invest in Goodr sunglasses for no-slip, polarized protection, and don’t forget a good pair of binoculars. Step-In Sketchers were a game-changer for game drives, and an African Safari Travel Journal was useful for tracking sightings. Malaria medication is a must; discuss options with your doctor. Wi-Fi was available at all hotels, and Tauck provided water bottles and plenty of water throughout the trip. Packing cubes were useful, and a day bag with essentials like binoculars, sunglasses, and a water bottle is crucial for game drives. I used my iPhone 13 for photos, but an iPhone with better zoom capabilities would be ideal. Let me know if you have any questions or need further details!
