Hello All - We were planning a trip to Greece with friends who have had to back out, so now we're looking at a spontaneous 17-day adventure in Spain instead! We're open to exploring major cities like Barcelona and Madrid, but also want to discover some hidden gems along the way. What are must-see sights, local experiences, or any travel tips you might have for a last-minute itinerary? Any advice on how to make the most of our time in Spain would be greatly appreciated!

That sounds like an exciting change of plans! For a disciplined approach to your 17-day itinerary, consider allocating specific days to each city. Start with Barcelona for its unique architecture and vibrant culture—don’t miss the Sagrada Familia and Park Güell. Then head to Madrid for the art scene at the Prado Museum and the beautiful Retiro Park. For hidden gems, I'd recommend visiting Granada for the Alhambra and Ronda for its stunning views. Also, try to include some local experiences like a flamenco show in Seville or a cooking class to learn about Spanish cuisine! How comfortable are you with planning out each day versus leaving some flexibility for spontaneous adventures?

So glad to hear about your spontaneous trip! It sounds like a fantastic opportunity to dive into Spain's rich culture. In addition to the classic spots, consider visiting Bilbao for its modern art at the Guggenheim or the stunning Basque coast. Also, don’t miss out on tasting tapas in San Sebastián; it’s a food lover's paradise! Since you’re open to adventure, how about exploring some smaller towns, like Salamanca or Toledo, which offer incredible history and charm? What kind of experiences are you looking to prioritize during your travels—food, culture, or maybe outdoor activities?
