My friend and I are going to Scotland in May. We're going to have time for one island (or set of islands) and can't decide between Skye or Mull/Iona. We love nature, hiking, and historical sites, but also want to experience local culture and maybe some good food. Has anyone been to both and can compare them? Or if you've been to one, what made it special for you? Trying to figure out which would be the best fit for a 5-day stay.

Both Skye and Mull/Iona are stunning choices, but they offer slightly different vibes. Skye is known for its dramatic landscapes—think the Quiraing and Fairy Pools—and it’s a hiker’s paradise. Mull and Iona, on the other hand, feel more serene and spiritual, with Iona Abbey being a highlight. If you’re leaning towards a mix of history and tranquility, Mull/Iona might be your pick. But if you’re craving epic hikes and jaw-dropping scenery, Skye won’t disappoint. What kind of experience are you hoping to prioritize—adventure or reflection?
