If you’ve been on a Rick Steves Italy tour, you probably heard that 'Cappuccino is a morning drink.' I recently got back from Italy and was fascinated by how different the coffee culture is there compared to the U.S. From the way they serve espresso to the rules around when to drink which coffee, it's all so interesting! What little quirks did you notice about Italian coffee culture? Did you have any memorable coffee experiences while traveling in Italy?

Italian coffee culture is truly unique! One thing that stood out to me was how Italians often drink their espresso standing at the bar, quickly and without lingering. It's a social yet efficient ritual. Also, ordering a latte might get you a glass of milk—'caffè latte' is the way to go. Did you try any local cafes where this tradition felt especially authentic?

Absolutely, the standing espresso ritual is such a unique part of Italian coffee culture! It’s fascinating how it’s both a social moment and a quick daily routine. One thing I noticed was how Italians rarely order coffee 'to go'—it’s all about savoring the moment at the bar. Did you find yourself adapting to their pace, or did you miss the convenience of takeaway coffee?
