Question Understanding the 90/180 Visa Rule in Schengen with a Work Permit

Hi there, I'm currently living in Malta and have been holding a work permit since 2019. Before obtaining the work permit, I was traveling around the Schengen area under the 90/180 visa rule. Now, I'm a bit confused about how the 90/180 rule applies to me with my work permit. Does the work permit exempt me from the 90/180 rule, or do I still need to keep track of my days in the Schengen area? Also, if anyone has gone through a similar situation, how did you manage your travels and work commitments? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!
