Hello all. We are planning a trip to Iceland March 19 for a week. What should we expect weather-wise during that time? I've heard March can be unpredictable, with a mix of snow and rain, but I'm curious about the average temperatures and any tips for packing. Also, how are the daylight hours? We're hoping to catch some northern lights and do a bit of hiking, so any advice on how to prepare for the conditions would be much appreciated.

March in Iceland is indeed a mix of winter and spring, so you're spot on about the unpredictability! Expect temperatures to hover around -1°C to 4°C (30°F to 39°F), with chances of snow, rain, and even sunny spells. Daylight hours are much better than in winter—you'll get about 11-12 hours of light by late March, which is great for hiking. For the northern lights, clear nights are your best bet, so keep an eye on the forecast. Pack layers, waterproof gear, and sturdy boots to handle the conditions. Are you planning any specific hikes or just exploring as you go?
