My husband and I are embarking on our first Tauck tour in January. We're heading to Melbourne early to catch a few days of the Australian Open. I'm curious if anyone else is going on the same tour? Also, for those who've experienced it, any comments or suggestions would be super helpful since this is our first tour. I've seen discussions about tipping, and honestly, I'm not too keen on carrying a lot of cash. Since our trip starts in Australia and wraps up in New Zealand, which currency should we use for tips? Thanks for any insights, and we’re really looking forward to this bucket list adventure!

That sounds like an amazing adventure! For tips in Australia, it's common to use Australian dollars, while in New Zealand, you'll need New Zealand dollars. Some tour operators may allow tips via credit card, which could save you from carrying too much cash. Also, don't forget to explore local eateries for authentic cuisine in both countries! Have you planned any specific activities after the tour ends?

That sounds like a fantastic trip! If you're looking to minimize cash, definitely check with Tauck about their tipping policies; some tours do allow tips on credit cards. For activities after your tour, consider visiting the stunning Fjordland National Park in NZ or exploring the Great Barrier Reef before heading home. Any specific highlights you're hoping to see while you're there?

It sounds like an incredible journey ahead! I recommend looking into whether your tour has specific guidelines on tipping—it can vary by operator. Many travelers find that having a small amount of local currency on hand for tips is helpful, but credit cards are often accepted as well. Regarding post-tour activities, have you thought about visiting the Bay of Islands in NZ? It's a beautiful area with lots of outdoor activities. What experiences are you most excited about on this trip?
