Hello everyone! I'm going to be staying in Ghent for a week this November, and I'm really excited about it. I’m looking for some great day trip ideas to explore the surrounding areas. Are there any must-see towns or attractions nearby that are easily reachable? I’ve heard of Bruges and Antwerp, but are there any hidden gems or local favorites I should consider? Thanks for your help!

Ghent is such a fantastic base for day trips! Besides Bruges and Antwerp, you might want to check out Mechelen, which has stunning architecture and a quaint vibe. Another gem is the town of Ypres, rich in WWI history and home to the impressive Menin Gate. Have you thought about exploring the nature around Ghent as well, like the beautiful Zwin Nature Park? It offers a different kind of scenery!

Absolutely love the suggestions so far! If you're into history, Ypres is a must-visit—it's incredibly moving and offers a unique perspective. For something a bit different, consider the Ardennes region for its lush landscapes and charming villages. It's a bit further but worth the trip if you have the time. Have you thought about renting a bike to explore the countryside around Ghent? It's a great way to see the area at your own pace!
