Question Day Trip from Hallstatt to Berchtesgaden - Worth It?

Hello all, We have 2 nights in Hallstatt in Late Sept 2018 and we are thinking of doing a half day trip to Berchtesgaden. Has anyone made this trip before? We're curious about the travel time, the best way to get there, and if the sights in Berchtesgaden are worth the journey. We're particularly interested in the salt mines and the Eagles Nest. Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
